In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month,
Student Leadership Team (SLT) is
sponsored
a “Pink Out” day where students
could wear
either the school sponsored T-Shirt or another
pink shirt.
The goal of the day
was to bring
awareness to the fight against cancer. The
proceeds from the shirt sales
went to the
American Cancer
Society. Advance
sales raised far close to $500
and some $800 was raised
overall.
In addition to the shirts,
SLT sold pink paper volleyballs for
fifty cents each or three for a dollar. We invited
students, staff, and community members to
write a name of relative or friend
who has either battled cancer, passed away from the
disease, or is currently fighting it.
We
displayed the volleyballs where
they could be seen as people
entered the school. The volleyballs
were also sold
during Monday night’s Senior
Night game. Other pink merchandise
was also available for purchase at the
game and a donation
bucket was placed at the gate for the volleyball game.
