Philosophy of Education
|
Christ Our
Rock Lutheran High School is founded on the belief that an excellent
Christian education addresses all of a student’s needs, including
intellectual, personal, physical, and especially spiritual.
Christian education works to build and strengthen the relationship
that each student has with his/her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Therefore, CORLHS strives to present academic subjects and
extra-curricular activities in the light of God’s Word, the Christian
faith, and the Lutheran Confessions. This approach provides opportunities for students to find
identity and purpose in Christ, and encourages them to live their lives in
concern for others and to display a Christian attitude of service to all
mankind. Throughout
their education at CORLHS, students are challenged academically,
encouraged in their faith walk, protected in a safe environment, cared
for, loved unconditionally, and guided through the maturation process.
Through a common bond in Jesus Christ, the students, faculty, staff, and
Association Board of Directors work together in an atmosphere allowing for
maximum success in teaching and learning, counseling, and personal
relationships. CORLHS recognizes that each student is a child of God, capable of growing in all aspects and areas. Each student deserves love and respect and is held in the highest esteem as a creation of our Lord. However, students are also held to high expectations in their learning and conduct as they are prepared to face the challenges that lie ahead and are led to become productive, responsible members of society and the church. With this in mind, our faculty and staff are qualified professionals that serve as Christian models for students, displaying Jesus’ love through their words and actions. Existing as one of the church’s programs of Christian education, CORLHS provides the conditions and occasions for the home and church to train young people in Christian principles at the stage of their lives when temptation to make unhealthy life decisions is at its greatest. CORLHS does not attempt to take young Christians out of the world but rather seeks to put them into the world with Christ as the focal point in their lives. In addition, Christ Our Rock is open to all families in our community, providing an educational alternative while sharing with them the Gospel of Jesus Christ. |
